Intermediate Topic 29 of 52 Data Structures

Adjacency Matrix

Graph storage using a square grid marking edges.

How it works

A V×V grid where cell [i][j] marks (or weights) an edge. Edge lookup is O(1) but memory is O(V²) and listing neighbors is O(V).

Where it is used

Dense graphs, Floyd-Warshall, small fixed graphs.

Common pitfall

Wasteful for sparse graphs with many vertices.

Where it fits in the course

Adjacency Matrix is topic 29 of 52 in Data Structures, rated Intermediate. It follows Adjacency List. The next topic is Disjoint Set Union.
